THE PROJECT

The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect.
It means understanding that everyone is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.  These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and others.  It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.  It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within everyone. (University of Oregon).

Diversity, for a long time now, has been becoming a part of our society.

Allowing diversity into our lives is how we find out all the brilliant ideas out there in the world. It is how we learn more about the world around us. By exploring other ideas, beliefs, and lifestyles with an open mind, we open ourselves to exercise creativity and problem solving by looking at things through other lenses.

Once diversity is accepted into societies they can begin to be more productive innovators, by trying to approach problems in different ways and from different perspectives. Whether it is comic book writers or if it is international peacekeepers, it is important to take into consideration other groups' perspectives on what you are doing. Also, once diversity is accepted, the society has a much higher chance to be internally and externally peaceful due to the lack of ignorance about other people. Having a diverse group of people is important in any community or society, and lacking diversity can cause huge misconceptions about other people, so it only makes sense to keep an open mind and open arms to anyone who you encounter.

Mutah University (MU), as leading academic institution, realize the imperative nature of diversity and equal opportunity practices in its workforce (academic and administrative staff) to promote the culture of tolerance and openness in the benefit of the socio effective HRM practices, which yield better performance and equality among employees.

Accordingly, MU decided to include a dedicated module in the study plan of the master and doctoral programs taught in the School of Business as these programs graduates will occupy executive (managerial) positions in the foreseeable future and, in turn, can reflect the practices learned of diversity management and equal opportunity. Mutah University is the first university in Jordan to teach a module regarding diversity management in the EU.
